Where we're going to be and when...
No markets for us this weekend. I’ll be making the first of this year’s Rosehip and Crabapple Jelly though, using Vicky’s own crabapples and the rosehips she picked while on holiday there. You can’t keep a good forager down! I am also delivering fresh stock to Rougham Hall Nurseries in Bury today. The Blackberry and
We’re at the lovely Bures Farmers Market on Saturday 13th, and at the Cressing Temple Barns Apple Day on Sunday 14th. Both are well worth a visit. We’ll be indoors in the Barley Barn on Sunday, so come and have a look round protected from the rain!
After a really busy couple of weeks making stone fruit jams – Victoria plums, Greengages, Damsons and Bullaces production has taken a 2 week break. We will be at Bures the second Saturday of October, but will miss the Sudbury market on the last Friday of September. Come along to the Round Church at Little
This weekend The Jam Shed will be in two places. On Saturday 8th September we will be in Bures for the Farmers Market on the meadow next to the church from 10am – 2pm. So many stalls with local produce from meat, veg and cakes to pies, preserves, homecrafts and plants. Come down to this
I have just got back from a 1500 mile motorcycle trip to Switzerland and France to visit Libby’s father. It was Mirabelle season in France with stalls along the road selling these lovely bright yellow plums. The tree near Colchester that Libby got her plums from blew down, so we didn’t have any last year.
The wonderful Companye of Merrie Folke put on a great show, with authentic Tudor crafts, food, music and puppit shows. Come and see us today and tomorrow at the National Trust Grange Barn.
I’m really sad that we won’t be at Jimmy’s Festival this year. We didn’t get an invite and I didn’t ask, as I wasn’t sure we’d have enough stock anyway. It’s always great fun, and with the weather the way it is it should be a vintage year. It was the last market Libby did
We will be back at the Bures Farmers Market this Saturday 14th July. We have this years first Black Cherry Conserve – a really nice batch. Come and browse around a delightful little market.
The lovely people at McLauchlans have managed to wrest a good supply of our special patch for us! So we will have new season Strawberry Conserve soon. For those really special scones this is just what we need. Thanks Jim!
No markets this weekend, but busy making Black Cherry Conserve with some lovely cherries from Haverhill. Picked up cherries, raspberries, red currants and rhubarb this week. All need cooking! With the price of vanilla do I dare make rhubarb and vanilla conserve? Having trouble getting strawberries. The pick-your-owners are taking them all!
